FAQ

What is your photography style?
I like natural poses and having a bit of fun with my photographs. I think that the deep stare of a child or the laughter between a couple gives a much better window into their personality than a toothy smile against a fake background. I’m in love with natural light and prefer to always use it if possible. I’d rather laugh with my clients than to have them sit still and say, “cheese”.

When should I book my session?
I’m usually booked 3 months in advance, so contact me early!

How can I help customize my shoot to best reflect me?
Get involved in the planning! I try to find out what I can about you and your interests before the shoot, but I need your help. Do you love picnics or nature, reading or antiques?  Let me know and together we can plan the perfect theme for your shoot. The more you put into your shoot, the more you’ll get out of it.

What should I bring to my photo shoot?
Bring a couch if you like! Want to haul your four poster bed into a field? I’m totally game! Of course you don’t have to bring anything but yourself, but props you do bring adds to the shoot. Just be sure to let me know so that I come prepared. Also, if I’m photographing your child, bring along a toy that will look good in photos and a snack just in case we need it.

What should I wear to my photo shoot?
Bright colors always look beautiful in photos. If you’re doing a family or couples shoot, don’t worry about matching. Real life doesn’t match! Hats and accessories always add a touch of fun! A little over-the-top looks great in photos.

What should I expect from my photo shoot?
The session info on my website gives you an idea of the minimum time that we will spend working on your photos. With me, though, there is no running timer on the session. I shoot until I feel that we have something beautiful. I then work hard editing the best photos from our session. When the editing is done, you will then have access to your own password protected slide show and online gallery to view your photos and make an order.

Can I choose the location of my photo shoot?
Absolutely! I always love trying out a new place whether it be an urban or nature setting. There is a traveling fee (starting at $25) for any locations outside of Fairfax or Prince William County.

Can you get my child to smile?
That’s one of the funny things about this job. I can guarantee you quality photos, but I just can’t guarantee how the kids will respond to the camera. Kids are so unpredictable, but isn’t that one of the things we love about them?! I do my best to help get them relaxed and hopefully smiling or laughing.

How do you do newborn shoots?
Be sure to contact me before the baby is born, at least three months is recommended. Once the holding fee is paid, I put your due date on my calendar. Newborn photography works best when the baby is 3-10 days old, so we’ll work together to find a time in that window to have our session. I come to your home for the photo shoot with a stash of props in tow and set up shop there. I schedule in plenty of time for feeding and soothing breaks for baby.

When is my payment due?
Half of your sitting fee is required as a non-refundable holding fee to get a spot on my calendar. The other half is required at the beginning of the photo shoot.

Where are you located?
I am in Fairfax County in the beautiful state of Virginia.
