Trevor & Keira {growing} 10

Another little girl whom I have gotten to follow with my camera during the first year of her life, had her one year old session. Keira, who sat like a doll in a pumpkin the last time I saw her, was joined by her big brother Trevor along with their parents. We did the photos on the grounds of a historic hidden gem- The Collingwood Library.

So enjoy some photos of this sweet birthday girl and her family.

Elliana {one year} 24

Miss Ellie has been quite the perfect little model during her first year of life. First we had fun with bookshelves and Moses baskets, then she beamed sweetly into the mirror in the woods. This session I got to document her in all her one-year-old glory, so full of life and curiosity.

Keira {6 months} 14

My husband asked me I as I got ready for the session, “Now, what baby are you photographing?”

I answered with the only four words that were necessary: “The Jelly Bean Baby”

That’s how little Miss Keira celebrated her grand entry into this world of ours- sitting in a bowl of jellybeans in front of my camera. So sticking with something normal for her six month shoot was absolutely out of the question…

Elliana {6 months} 33

As a photographer, I get attached to certain photos, and Elliana’s newborn session stands as one of my personal favorites. During a gorgeous morning this past week, I met up with Elliana and her parents for her six month photo shoot. Once again, Miss Ellie didn’t disappoint. Her sunny personality made for another memorable session…

Owen 8

One of the most rewarding things I’ve gotten to do since beginning my photography business nearly 4 years ago has been taking my nephews and neice’s newborn portraits. There’s a lot of love behind each of their first pictures. With all the newborns I’ve been doing lately you can imagine how excited I’ve been about doing my newest nephew’s photos. However, I couldn’t have anticipated his arrival being so completely different than any of us had imagined.

My sister had planned her second home birth, but a few days before her due date she was sent for an urgent c-section when her son stopped moving in utero. Owen made his rather dramatic arrival and spent the next few hours fighting for his little life. Unbeknownst to us, he had been suffering from a rare alloimmune disorder. His home was the NICU for the first two weeks of his life. I knew the chance for capturing a baby’s “brand new stage” was such a small window, but at that point I was just so grateful that he was there and getting better. Still, I pounced on the opportunity to get some pictures done the day after he arrived home.  After enduring blood transfusions, tubes all over his little body, and all the other joys of hospital, he was a champ through his photo shoot.

I know I have “auntie goggles” on when I look at these, but I just don’t see how he could possibly be any cuter!

Arabelle {six months} 17

This was my fourth photo shoot with little Miss Arabelle. The first time I did pictures, she was a bump on her momma’s belly and now this sweet one has blossomed into a six month old doll. She was all smiles and totally comfortable with the camera…can anyone say “first baby!”  We were able to spend part of our shoot in the middle of a bed of bluebells, and like any baby worth their salt, Arabelle tried hard to taste test the flowers.

Jillian {growing} 29

I had the joy of photographing Miss Jillian just three days after her first birthday. A one year old session has become a favorite of mine. At this age, they are just bursting with personality; and who doesn’t love chubby cheeks! This little doll had a special attachment to Mommy, Daddy, and a little stuffed meerkat that went everywhere with her. We spent a delightful hour together doing everything from discovering the flowers I’d hung in her backyard to jumping on the bed. A highlight was watching her dad gently flip her around on that bed. It brought back old memories of small me and my daddy.

Arabelle {3 months} 28

This weekend I was back at Arabelle’s house to see how much she’s grown! Even at 3 months, she was all female, wanting to catch my eye and have a cooing version of a conversation. And aren’t her blue eyes and rolls downright cherub-like?!

Samuel- 6 months 5

The last time I was at Sam’s house he was a tiny sleepy newborn, and I was a ginormous pregnant photographer. This time when I arrived, sans huge belly, I found a cheerful, wide-eyed 6 month old. Sam was the perfect little model who kept up his toothless grin and a laid back personality the entire shoot. Don’t you just want to kiss those cheeks?!
