I’ve known Dave and Hannah for a few years now. So it was a treat to spend some time with them, their two adorable children, and my camera one morning recently. Dave is bit of a goof with a great sense of humor. The reason for the bugs trying to bite him during our shoot? They must love a Chinese buffet, he tells me. And their son, who we can just refer to as mini-Dave, has the same fun-loving spirit. Hannah is a quiet, caring beauty and their daughter strolled through our shoot like a gentle, sweetheart looking so much like her mommy.

Nicolette & Paul {maternity} 33

Sometimes getting to shoot a past client again feels like seeing an old friend. I know that sounds sappy, but it really does. Two years ago, I did Paul and Nicolette’s engagement photos. And from the beginning of that shoot, there was something about them. We connected in the first 10 minutes. Maybe it was the unexpected fun snowfall or maybe it was their stellar personalities. So you can imagine how I squealed with delight when they contacted me about doing their maternity photos. And the shoot didn’t disappoint. This couple is as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. And Nicolette’s gorgeousness in her third trimester would tempt any woman to jealousy!

W Family {love} 3

After having to re-schedule because of snow(!) in October(!) in Virginia(!), I met up with the W family on a beautiful and far warmer afternoon this week. Mom and Dad were friendly and great to work with, but my favorite part was hanging out with the two little guys that reminded me of my sons just a few years back. There was a lot of tickling, sprinting, car noises, and all the wonderful things that come with little boys. And as a big added bonus, they cooperated like champs!

When I first met Scott, he was a widower with small four kids. And Rosana? My family affectionately referred to her as the “fashionable single lady”. I bet you can guess what happened next! I’ve loved watching Rosana become a wonderful mom to these children. After nearly four years, they decided it was high time for some family portraits; and I couldn’t have been more thrilled that they asked me to do the honors.

Insoo & Priscilla {love} 25

Traditionally, I thought the girl who catches the bouquet at a wedding is supposed to end up with guy who catches the garter. Not Priscilla. She caught the bouquet and ended up falling for the MC. Now they’re planning for their own wedding.

Braving sweltering heat, a minor plague of gnats, and a sky that was threatening rain, we still had a blast together. I love being with people who know how to laugh! My favorite part of the shoot is that almost every time I pulled my camera up to start shooting, Insoo would be staring adoringly at Priscilla. It was beautiful.

Insoo and Priscilla, I wish you all the happiness in your new life together. Marriage is a gift from God!

A Family {love} 18

When thinking of how to describe this little family, the first word that popped into my head was “delightful”. Tatiana and Karl were all smiles and kindness during our time together, and you can tell that they are both head over heels for their sweet son. Plus, you’ll always earn bonus points with this photographer when you allow me to put your lovely chaise lounge in the middle of a still damp field!
